MULTI-MEDIA FILTER (MMF)

Multi-Media Filter typically contains three layers of media consisting of an anthracite, silica sand and garnet, with a supporting layer of gravel at the bottom.

MMF is used to reduce the level of suspended solids and turbidity in raw water. Suspended solids consist of small particles such as silt, clay, grit and organic matter. Incoming feed water that is high in suspended solids can cause a high pressure drop and reduce the effectiveness of downstream filtration equipment such as reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange beds.

ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER (ACF)

Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) works via a process called chemical adsorption. This unit generally used in water treatment for dechlorination and removing of organic compounds, taste and odour from industrial feed water. However, ACF is not effective at removing of minerals, salts, and dissolved inorganic compounds which can eliminate by reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange resin.

MICROFILTRATION (MF) / ULTRAFILTRATION (UF)

Both MF and UF is a low pressure driven membrane separation process that separates particulate matter from soluble components in feed water. Typically, MF has a pore size around 0.1 µm whereas UF has pore sizes in the range of 0.01 – 0.10 µm and have a high removal capability for turbidity, colloidal substances and silt.

Microfiltration (MF) / Ultrafiltration (UF) unit is an alternative technology to be replaced conventional pretreatment system that require chemical precipitation, sedimentation, and filtration process.

Applications of MF / UF system are:

  • Pretreatment for Pure Water / Deminerilized Water Treatment System,
  • Tertiary Wastewater Treatment System,
  • Municipal Water Purification,
  • Sewerage Treatment Plant Polisher Unit for Reclamation System,
  • Final Polisher for Ultra Pure Water Treatment Subsystem
LONG FILTER (FIBAX)

For the conventional filtration through a filter bed, filtration media such as sand and anthracite are used. The FIBAX high rate filter makes use of bundles of long fibers which permit filtering at capacity 3 to 5 times as higher than conventional sand filter.

The FIBAX high rate filter can be operated either by gravity-feed or pressure-feed depending upon the installation place and/or applications.

Advantages of Organo Asia’s FIBAX unit are:

  • High filtration rate compare to conventional type
  • Energy and space saving
  • Minimal backwash duration (5 min/cycle) and backwash water
  • High tolerance to incoming water suspended solid (50 mg/l)
